TWO’S COMPANY! – The days when any Minister who visited Co Monaghan had to face a protest about issues such as Monaghan General Hospital are obviously in the past as Rose Riordan and Shiela Kevins from Farranfore, Co Kerry were two voices in the wilderness as they protested against the Household Charge during Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan’s visit to Monaghan last Friday. The Minister had a packed agenda and one of his duties included officially opening Monaghan’s new €3.5 million fire station where photographer Rory Geary took this photograph of Deputy Caoimhghin O Caolain, T.D speaking with the protestors. ©Rory Geary/The Northern Standard
