The Dan Thompson Memorial Cup changed hands on Sunday last as Clones came to Sarsfield Park and plundered a victory at the expense of the home side, Killeevan who had won the inaugural tournament last year.
Aghabog, Clones and Killeevan will all be competing against other in junior ranks this year so any psychological advantage that either could gain could be valuable later in the season when league points or more importantly championship progress could be at stake.
Recently appointed Killeevan team manager, Declan McArdle, saw his side open with a win at the expense of Aghabog and Clones underlined their intent with a win over newly promoted senior side Currin.
The Clones v Killeevan final was a very entertaining affair but Clones always held that slight edge and ran out winners with some six points to spare.
The real winner on the day though was the Cavan Cardiac Unit who will benefit from the subscriptions and donations on the day to help them in their on going work in helping people suffering from cardiac problems.
