The Mayor of Carrickmacross Town Council Noel Keelan has welcomed the news that the vacated construction site on the town’s Ardee Road, the only NAMA site in County Monaghan, has been sold.
The new Boston-based owners of the site are Eddie Byrne, originally from Killanny, and Tom McElroy, originally from Cork, trading under the name North East Construction Limited.
ERA Tobin Estate Agents, O’Neill St., Carrickmacross, were the vendors charged with selling commercial site.
John Tobin said that ERA Tobin, were appointed as estate agents representing the property at the beginning of this year by Regency Consulting (NAMA agents on behalf of Kavanagh Fennell.)
Tom Kavanagh, of Kavanagh Fennell was appointed receiver and manager of Dundalk-based McEnaney Construction Limited, the previous owner of the site, on January 17th, 2011, on behalf of Ulster Bank Limited and the National Assets Management Bureau (NAMA).
Construction began on the project in August 2006 but was abandoned in 2008, despite an interested party buying into the site in a bid to save it. However, market conditions continued to deteriorate and the developer’s efforts were in vein.
