Friday last 11th November was a significant day for Carrickroe, in particular Deravoy National School as we marked the final day of a lengthy service to our school and community by our postman Paddy Donnelly.
Paddy has been a familiar face at our school for 43 years. What a service record! So it wass really important to show appreciation to a person of tremendous dedication and commitment to his job. He was always welcome at our school especially when he brought good news! He was courteous, friendly, respectful and always in good humour. Each class composed songs and poems and presented them to him along with their drawings and illustrations. On this occasion thankfully, he had time to enjoy some apple tart courtesy of one of our grandmothers, Maura!
We wish Paddy and his wife Rose many years of health and happiness and we express our gratitude to him for being the best “Fear an Phoist” in the country. Go raibh míle maith agat, a Phaidí.
