The Rotary Club of Monaghan held their Annual President’s Ball in the Four Seasons Hotel on Friday April 8th. Monaghan President, Sinead Corrigan, celebrated this years Rotary event with family, friends and fellow Rotarians from the clubs of Omagh, Navan, Enniskillen, Lisburn, Coleraine, Bangor and North Down. The Rotary District Governor of Ireland, Wes Armstrong, was also present. The function was also truly honoured to have His Excellency, Mr Emil Yalnasov, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Ireland and his wife Sylvia amongst the guests.
The Master of Ceremonies, Peter O’Reilly, conducted the formalities and introduced the various speakers. Thank you to Past District Governor Gussie Hynes from Omagh, Past President Raymond Wilkinson, Honorary member and Past President Danny Aughey who proposed toasts. District Governor Wes Armstrong responded to the Rotary International toast and congratulated Sinead and the Monaghan Rotary for the work they are doing and encouraged the community to support their efforts. The proceeds of this years President’s Ball are in aid of the Monaghan Branch of MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and committee member Mary McCaffery from the local Branch described the work that is being done for the benefit of those suffering from MS and for their families. A huge word of thanks to Gareth Corrigan, who acted as auctioneer for the evening and Dylan Maxwell who was DJ for the Disco. The Rotary club of Monaghan want to sincerely thank all the sponsors of the auction, raffle and spot prizes for their very kind and generous donations for the event and to all the guests who purchased items in the auction and supported the raffle.
