Next Twin Parade to include triplets and other multiples!

The largest gathering of twins in Ireland organised by the Carrickmacross Lions Club took place last June as part of the town’s Summer Festival Weekend. All roads will lead to Carrickmacross again on June 4th, 2011 when twins, triplets and other multiples will gather to parade through the town and help create a new Irish record for the largest gathering of twins and multiples assembled in one place at the same time.
Lions Club President Michael Murphy explained that during a presentation on last year’s parade to The Irish Multiple Births Association, he met some parents of triplets who very much wanted to be included in this year’s events. He added that since all the proceeds of the parade go to local charities, it makes sense to open up registration to include twins, triplets and all other multiples.
Those wishing to register can do so now online at www.carrickmacross.ie. Incidentally, organisers expect at least 500 sets of twins to take part after the huge success of their first event last year.
In attendance this year will be The Tutbury Wind Band, one of the largest community bands in the UK, and the German Alcaputti Marching Band, as well as bands from all over Ireland.
The Lions Club have organised a multiple band concert on the Friday night featuring the German and English bands and the local Steadfast Band. In addition to this, a new streamlined registration process in a larger venue is in place, along with post parade entertainment for all participants and their families.
All sets of registered twins are included in a prize draw with numerous prizes on offer. The town of Carrickmacross will be buzzing as the Festival Weekend running from June 3rd—6th will be in full swing.
