Clones Town Council Mayor Deirdre Kelly is literally swept off her feet by Santa Claus in a preview of the excitement of the town’s festive celebrations which will take place on Saturday, December 11 next and hopefully herald in a lucrative beginning to the season for the traders of the Border town.
Celebrations will take place on the Diamond at 4.30pm and conclude at 6.oo with the official turning on of the Christmas lights by Santa and the Mayor.
Santa Claus will arrive in the Diamond by special transport, having spent all day working hard in Santa’s Grotto in Supervalu. There will be a Christmas blessing and prayer, songs from St Tiarnach’s Primary School choir and a church choir, performances from the students of Clones Theatre School and Largy College, market stalls and of course mulled wine and mistletoe.
