Monaghan musicians and dancers won ten All-Ireland titles and secured six second and seven third placings at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Cavan. Emyvale and Tullycorbett led the way with the two CCÉ branches bringing eight of the 10 coveted titles back to the county between them.

The Emyvale céilí dancers secured two senior All-Ireland titles with wins in the Mixed 4-hand Céilí Dancing and Mixed 8-hand

categories.

The Mixed 8-hand category also saw the North Monaghan dancers win in both under 12 and 15-18 age groups. All the dancers are pupils of the Emyvale dance teacher Gerard McQuaid and it is a great tribute to his teaching abilities that his dancers took a quarter of all the céilí dancing titles on offer.
