Yet again, County Monaghan had a fantastic weekend in Athlone I.T. where they competed in the National

Community Games finals. They upped last years medals haul of 4 Gold, 4 Silver, 3 Bronze and 2 Fourth place and finished the weekend third top county.

Friday saw Emma O’Driscoll from ‘The Den’ and formally from the band Six entertain the huge number of competitors who were at the Opening Ceremony. From singing and dancing to ‘Rock the Boat’ there was plenty of activity and Monaghan were in the thick of things with the resident competitors dressed in the county tracksuits sponsored by SilverCrest Foods showing pride in their county and bedecked in white and blue. We may have missed out on prizes sponsored by 2FM but we certainly let all other counties and dignitaries know we had arrived.
