COLM SHALVEY Powering over the finish line of their lengthy lockdown challenge, Lough Egish brothers Ciarán, Tony and Breandan Ward have raised over €27,000 in their marathon fundraiser for SOSAD Ireland. Over 95 days of their daily runs at the Aughnamullen GAA complex walking track, the trio covered an amazing 1,700km. According to a study carried out by Professor Kevin Malone entitled Suicide in Ireland 2003-2008, on average, every 18 days a child under 18 in Ireland dies by suicide.  To mark the beginning of International Suicide Prevention Week, which runs from the 8th – 14th September 2013, SOSAD Carrickmacross are organising a 5KM walk to raise funds and create awareness of the issue of suicide prevention in our community.  The walk will begin at the courthouse on Main Street at 6.15am on Sunday, 8th September 2013, and return to the same location.  It ...
