









































A Newbliss man has become an Irish record holder after running a whopping 52 marathons in just 32 weeks in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. The record had stood at 47 but Shane McCarville smashed this by running 52 marathons all over Ireland between January and August this year. Annemarie, who is currently planning her wedding to Monaghan man Avin in July next year, won an impressive €33,600 on the show. Claims by a Newbliss man have contributed to the reigniting of the controversy surrounding presidential election candidate Sean Gallagher’s treatment on the RTE ‘Frontline’ programme in October last. Forty-three-year-old Pat McGuirk in an interview in last weekend’s Sunday Independent claimed that the text of a question he asked as an audience member on the programme was altered by RTE to make it “hostile” in import regarding Mr Gallagher’s record on job creation.
