A Newbliss man has become an Irish record holder after running a whopping 52 marathons in just 32 weeks in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. Newbliss woman Annemarie Connolly has much to celebrate after scooping over €30,000 on TV gameshow ‘Winning Streak’ last weekend. Annemarie, who is currently planning her wedding to Monaghan man Avin in July next year, won an impressive €33,600 on the show. Claims by a Newbliss man have contributed to the reigniting of the controversy surrounding presidential election candidate Sean Gallagher’s treatment on the RTE ‘Frontline’ programme in October last. Forty-three-year-old Pat McGuirk in an interview in last weekend’s Sunday Independent claimed that the text of a question he asked as an audience member on the programme was altered by RTE to make it “hostile” in import regarding Mr Gallagher’s record on job creation.
