The IABA have named County Monaghan boxer Gary McKenna in an 11-strong squad for a week-long Elite training camp in England. Three-time AIBA World Elite, Youth and Junior medalist Joe Ward has also been named in the side, along with London 2012 Olympians Adam Nolan, Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlon. What a night of world class boxing the Old School ABC supporters were treated to at the the National stadium, Dublin. In all thirteen titles were won at Friday’s Elite Championships finals and Katie Taylor recorded an emphatic victory on her return to competitive action since winning gold at London 2012. It was a night which also seen the retirement of boxing legend Kenny Egan where he received a standing ovation. The 2012 National Intermediate Championships, the final National tournament of the year, concluded in Dublin last Friday night. Twenty four titles were claimed at the National Stadium in Dublin that night to bring the curtain down on 2012. The Championships, which attracted a record entry of almost 200 male and female boxers, is the final National tournament of the year.
