DARKNESS INTO LIGHT WALK RAISES €39,500

Darkness into Light Monaghan 2015 raised almost €40,000 for suicide and self-harm crisis centre Pieta House. The cheque presentation for the 2015 5km walk/run, which had an attendance of around 2,000, took place at the Monaghan Harps grounds last Thursday evening. Ulster and Ireland rugby star Tommy Bowe has given his backing to Darkness into Light Monaghan, which takes place in the early hours of Saturday week, May 9.   The Monaghan man, who helped third-placed Ulster to a big Guinness Pro12 win over Leinster last Friday night, took time out from his busy schedule to lend his support to the fundraising 5km walk/run for suicide and self-harm prevention charity, Pieta House. Pieta House’s fundraising Darkness into Light 5km walk/run will again take place in Monaghan and Cavan in the early hours of Saturday, May 9. The 2015 launch was held in the Monaghan Harps GAA clubhouse last Thursday, in front of a large attendance of organisers and supporters from both counties.
