Government Ministers Michael Noonan and Brendan Howlin unveiled the country’s seventh successive austerity Budget in the Dáil on Tuesday, announcing a major new health scheme where free GP care will be provided to children under the age of five but also introducing a range of cuts which encompassed some of the entitlements enjoyed by old age pensioners and a reduction in dole payments to the young unemployed.
