THE STAGE IS SET FOR COUNTRY FESTIVAL RETURN

Massive crowds are expected to assemble in the county capital this weekend for the much anticipated return of the Monaghan Country Music Festival. The festival, which has been in abeyance for a number of years, will run from tonight Thursday, until Sunday, with headline acts performing on the specially erected stage at The Diamond and an exciting satellite programme of entertainment taking place at other locations in the central town area.

The full festival programme is outlined in an article inside this week’s edition. Monaghan Municipal District has pointed out that road closures will be in operation on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 6.30 pm, and from 2 pm on Sunday. A large section of the Lower Courthouse Car-park will be closed off for the funfair which is running until Monday July 22. Alternative car-parking is available at the Monaghan Peace Campus and at the Broad Road. The construction of the Festival main stage was well advanced as we went to press.
