MONAGHAN DOMINATES NOMINATIONS IN BEST PLACE TO HOLIDAY COMPETITION

Co Monaghan has so far received 44 nominations in the Best Place to Holiday in Ireland competition supported by the Irish Times newspaper and Bord Fáilte. “The figures for Monaghan are very impressive at this early stage,” said Kieran Garry of GPR Communications which is promoting the competition.

“As of last Friday Monaghan was the county which had received the most nominations, almost twice that of secondplaced Co Kerry which was on 23. Meath, Tyrone and Armagh have no nominations and Cavan, Fermanagh and Louth have just 3 or 4. “While the winner will be picked by the judges on a range of criteria, the fact Monaghan is well ahead of other tourist destination counties in the number of nominations it has generated is noteworthy and it will be interesting to see if it continues.”
