‘BLAYNEY AND TYDAVNET SHOWS GEARING UP FOR 2022 RETURN

August is set to see the return of Co Monaghan’s major summer agricultural show events. The committee of Castleblayney Show announced this week that preparations for their 2022 event were “going full steam ahead”, and they planned to “bring you a fantastic day for all the family” on Bank Holiday Monday, August 1. The Tydavnet Show committee has set the date of August 20 for its 2022 event.

Recent years have seen the cancellation of Ireland’s agricultural shows due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But Irish Shows Association General Secretary Jim Harrison expects the circuit to be back to almost its full schedule this summer following the easing of pandemic restrictions. “Local committees are buzzing again and raring to go,” Mr Harrison stated.

“There’s a hunger there from knitting enthusiasts to brown bread bakers to commercial cattle people to get back out there and do what they do best. A local show showcases everything that is good about rural Ireland and demonstrating that is good for everybody. ‘In many cases it allows the town to connect with the country.
