“Phenomenal” was how key organiser Frank McEnaney of the Westenra Arms Hotel in Monaghan Town described the local public response to the Movember initiative undertaken to raise funding for Monaghan’s Crocus cancer support group.

Staff and members from a number of prominent business premises and community organisations throughout Monaghan got behind the effort with great enthusiasm, growing their facial hair throughout the month of November prior to the big sponsored shave-off held recently in The West, which attracted a packed audience.

In all the effort has raised in the region of €44,435 for its deserving cause. Mr McEnaney yesterday thanked all those who had supported the endeavour, and his appreciation was echoed by Crocus founder member Mary Callery, who is seen…
