Monday’s dashed expectation of an immediate and positive outcome to Brexit negotiations in Brussels, after British Prime Minister Theresa May apparently bowed to pressure from the North’s Democratic Unionist Party over the wording of a proposed agreement that referred to “regulatory alignment” between North and South, prompted some strong reaction from political representatives in the Republic.
Sinn Féin MEP for the Midlands North West Matt Carthy called for the DUP to be challenged on what he described as the party’s “reckless and irresponsible approach” to the current negotiations.
