THREE YEARS’ PRISON IMPOSED, HALF OF WHICH TO BE SUSPENDED

A 36-YEAR-OLD Donegal man who was found to have €11,500 worth of cocaine in his underpants when searched at Monaghan Garda Station has been given a three-year prison term, but with the final 18 months suspended.

At Tuesday’s sitting of the October 2017 Monaghan Circuit Court hearings, Damien Alcorn of Drumaboden, Ramelton, Donegal was given the custodial sentence despite pleas from his barrister that “treatment rather than incarceration” was what was needed.

Mr Alcorn pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to being in possession of a bag of cocaine for sale or supply at Kilnacloy, Monaghan on….
