SINN FÉIN LEADER EXTOLS CONTRIBUTION OF CAVAN/MONAGHAN TD AT CELEBRATION FUNCTION

The very positive role played by Cavan/Monaghan tD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin in building the strong Sinn Féin Oireachtas team was paid tribute to by party leader Gerry Adams at a celebration function last weekend marking Deputy Ó Caoláin’s 20 years as a Dáil representative. Mr Adams described the Deputy as a stalwart of the party and recalled in detail his landmark election to the Dáil and his contribution to the election of hunger striker the late Kieran Doherty as a TD for Cavan/Monaghan in 1981.

A capacity attendance in Monaghan’s Four Seasons Hotel on Saturday night also heard tributes to Deputy Ó Caoláin from Midlands North West MEP Matt Carthy and the SF Ard Mhéara Átha Cliath Mícheál Mac Donncha. A number of presentations honouring his contribution to the establishment of SF as a powerful electoral force both in Co Monaghan and nationally were made on the night to Deputy Ó Caoláin, who in his own address described it as a great….
