A Sinn Féin delegation headed by MEP Matt Carthy from Carrickmacross visited the headquarters in Brussels of the Belgian electricity transmission company Elia on Tuesday.

They were briefed about plans for a 94km underground high voltage direct current (HVDC) interconnector called ALEGrO between Liège in Belgium and Aachen in Germany with two converter stations that is being developed jointly with the German transmission company Amprion.
