GROUPS of concerned landowners in four border counties—in the Republic and the North—are now believed to be considering some ‘strongarm’ tactics to block the controversial €380m. interconnector electricity scheme proposed by EirGrid, which would benefit the region, despite ‘talk-shop’ representations planned for the EU in Brussels in the coming days.

The landowners are understood to be furious over the recent Dublin High Court ruling for approval despite the project being challenged by the North East Anti-pylon Campaign Committee. In the course of the long drawnout controversy, several farmers are claiming the pylons and overhead power lines…
