Three get prison — but hunt continues for fourth man suspected of stealing car to make good his escape

Gardai have expressed thanks to locals — including golfers — who helped them apprehend three men who attempted to escape over fields after alighting from a car that contained stolen goods in the Castleblayney area on tuesday of last week. the three, who are of romanian nationality and of part of a group of four who had been followed by gardai after a theft incident at a supermarket in Monaghan town, were each sentenced to six months’ imprisonment when they came before last Wednesday’s sitting of Carrickmacross District Court.
