HOUSES ON BOTH SIDES OF BORDER TARGETED IN BREAK-INS THAT MAY BE LINKED

GARDAI in Monaghan have confirmed that they are investigating two burglaries that occurred last Wednesday, 28th June, at Brandrum, on the Clones road out of Monaghan town and on the Newtownbutler Road, in Clones.

In both cases the houses were vacant but had windows forced open. Gardai are advising house owners to obtain burglar alarms and ensure they are set even at nighttime. Report all suspicious activity such as persons looking to check water meters or purporting to be from electricity companies. Reputable callers will have an identification badge, a spokesperson advised. Gardai are liaising with the PSNI, which is dealing with three similar burglaries, also on Wednesday of last week, which occurred at Richview Heights, Keady, Monaghan Road, Middletown, and at Markethill, Co Armagh.
