THe grieving family of a 23- years-old Carrickmacross law graduate who was killed by a hit-and-run lithuanian driver on August 2nd 2011 is awaiting a response from new taoiseach leo Varadkar, to a call made to him by Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin, for a public inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the tragic South Monaghan death.

Mr. Martin has confirmed in a letter to Mrs Lucia O’Farrell—the mother of Shane O’Farrell—that he has requested the Taoiseach to establish an independent inquiry to investigate all the circumstances surrounding Shane’s death.

The Fianna Fail leader confirmed his direct approach to the Taoiseach on June 14th last. The hit-and-run driver, Zigimantas Gridzuiska, 39, from Lithuania, had 42 previous convictions in three different jurisdictions and was out on bail at the time. After he hit Shane, he drove to a friend’s house at Carrickmacross, left the car he was driving there, and walked to his home where he told his wife he knocked someone down.

Neither of them…
