Following a meeting with him in Kilkenny Castle on Friday last, HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, was described by Monaghan County Council’s Heritage Officer Shirley Clerkin as having been “extremely relaxed, interested and knowledgeable.”

Ms Clerkin, who is also the chairperson of the local authority County Heritage Officer Network, received the invitation to Kilkenny through the Heritage Council and representatives from a number of this organisation’s partners also attended the private meeting with the Prince.
