On Saturday night last, April 8th, nine applicants assembled in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan, all eager to find out which one of them would be selected as the Monaghan Rose 2017.
The honour was given to Maria Murnaghan from Laragh. The 18-year-old, is about to sit her Leaving Certificate examination in St. Louis Secondary School, Carrickmacross.
According to Sonia Casey, of the Monaghan Rose Centre, Maria wasn’t expecting to be selected as she was the baby of the bunch. Nonetheless, she is delighted.
