TAOISEACH RAISES DUBLIN-MONAGHAN BOMBINGS WITH BRITISH PM – BUT FF LEADER DISAPPOINTED AT LACK OF PROGRESS

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has raised the issue of the Dublin-Monaghan bombings with British Prime Minister Theresa May – but Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has expressed disappointment at the lack of progress from the engagement in bringing about a full investigation into the 1974 atrocities.

In a written reply to a Dáil question submitted by Deputy Martin, the Taoiseach said he had stressed the urgency of making progress on the bombings issue, and pledged that Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan would continue to raise the matter with the British Government.

There have been repeated calls for an inquiry to be carried out to establish who was responsible for the no warning car bombs in Dublin and Monaghan that resulted in the biggest loss of life on a single day during the period of the Troubles…
