DRIVING AT 162KPH WAS “ABSOLUTELY AND UTTERLY DANGEROUS” — JUDGE FERMANAGH MAN GETS BANNED FOR SPEEDING OFFENCE

A FERMANAGH MAN who drove a van at over 100mph was given a two-year driving ban for dangerous driving when the matter came before a recent sitting of Monaghan District Court.

Niall Boylan (31) of 60 Drumbulcan Road, Sydare, Ballinamallar, Co Fermanagh, who represented himself, confirmed at the outset that he was pleading guilty to a charge of dangerous driving at Moy Etra, Monaghan on 8th October last.

Inspector Ronan Carey said Garda Conor Brady of the Traffic Corps was conducting a speed check in the Castleshane area on the N2 when he detected a red Volkswagen Transporter van travelling at 162kph (101mph) in a 100kph (62mph) zone.
