DUBLIN FIGHT BACK AS CUNNINGHAM SEES MONAGHAN BLOW THEIR LEAD

Despite making a promising start, Monaghan’s senior ladies footballers made a losing start to their NFL Division One campaign, going down to hosts Dublin on Sunday last.

In the corresponding tie last year, Monaghan suffered a very heavy defeat against the All Ireland runners up so they were hoping to turn things on their head on Sunday last.

It must be said that the girls put in a resilient display and despite coming out on the wrong end of the score line, the margin of defeat was only five points in end.

Indeed, Monaghan’s hopes ultimately crashed on their concession of a goal and a point in the opening minutes of the second half.

And even the most partisan Dublin fan could hardly argue with the theory that the result could have went either way on the day.
