CIVIC HONOUR FOR MONAGHAN’S ULSTER CHAMPION LADY FOOTBALLERS

Hopes that winning the 2016 Ulster Championship and reaching the All-Ireland semi-final was only the start of the glory trail for Co Monaghan’s current crop of senior lady footballers were expressed at a civic reception held in their honour by Monaghan Co Council in Monaghan’s Four Seasons Hotel on Monday evening.
The county’s pride in the squad’s achievement was articulated by Co Council Cathaoirleach P J O’Hanlon, who told the members of Paula Cunningham’s talented squad that they were inspirational role models for the young people of the county.

Council Chief Executive Eamonn O’Sullivan stated: “You have done us all proud in Co Monaghan and we look forward to supporting you in 2017 towards even better honours.”

A citation and figurine were presented to joint captains Ciara McAnespie and Laura McEneaney, with all the members of the squad receiving scrolls marking their civic distinction.
