The official Operation Transformation National Walks take place nationwide on Saturday 7th January at 9.30am.

Monaghan Sports Partnership is the local organiser for the Monaghan walk taking place in Monaghan Town and using the Greenway.

People of all ages and abilities are welcome and families can bring pushchairs / buggies but please ensure that your child’s transportation is suitable to travel along the gravel paths. For safety reason, dogs are not permitted (with the exception of guide dogs). Meet up at Monaghan Harps GAA grounds, (off the Old Cross Square roundabout) with registration at 9.00am. Organisers are hoping for an even bigger turn out this year. The walk will take approximately 45mins to 1 hour.

Parkrun supports Operation Transformation
Saturday 14th January sees Parkrun kick-start its new year activities and welcome along new members wishing to start the year the healthy way – Park Run is available every Saturday at 9.30am at Lough Muckno Castleblayney. It is supported by a dedicated team, of volunteers and entry to ParkRun each week is FREE – simply register at www.parkrun.ie Parkrun provides the basis for people starting off who are following the Operation Transformation programme on television and aim to be able to run 5km distance by 18th February for the national 5km run.

Following the Operation Transformation Walk, why not join a local group for continued walks into Spring. There are regular walks taking place in the following locations;
Ballinode (at Kilmore on Mondays at 7.00pm),
Emyvale (at Emy Lough on Fridays at 7.15am),
Monaghan Town (Mens Shed Walk Mondays at 10.30am),
Monaghan Town Walkie Talkers (at Monaghan Harps GFC / Greenway – Mondays, Friday at 5.30pm, and Tuesday, Wednesdays at 6.30pm),
Toome (at Toome GFC on Sundays at 9.30am, Castleblayney on Mondays at 6.45pm),
Rockcorry (at Dartrey Estate on Saturdays at 9.30am,
Ballybay (at Town Park on Tuesdays 7.15pm),
Castleblayney (at Black Island Bridge, Lough Muckno on Mondays at 11.00am),
Carrickmacross (at Carrick Town Library on Tuesdays at 9.30am),
Clones (at the Diamond on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7.00pm)
