•€380,000 FOR MONAGHAN TOWNS AND VILLAGES AS.. MINISTER HUMPHREYS ANNOUNCES ‘RENEWAL GRANTS’

MONAGHAN town is to get a whopping €100,000 boost under a €750,000 share-out for some fifteen towns and villages in counties Monaghan and Cavan under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme which was announced on Tuesday by local Dail deputy and Minister for Arts Heritage Regional Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys T.D.

The scheme aims to rejuvenate and revitalise rural Ireland and will be used for a wide variety of projects such as developing a ‘wi-fi hub’ in Monaghan town.
Monaghan town has been allocated the largest tranche of the money, while Cavan Town, Cootehill and Virginia, will each receive €85,000.

Minister Humphreys gave a detailed break-up to THE NORTHERN STANDARD of the overall allocation amounting to €380,000 for eight towns and villages in Co. Monaghan and said local people in each area are really “at the heart of the process”.

She said she was delighted to provide funding of €380,000 for the eight towns and villages in Co. Monaghan to benefit under the new scheme.
