Taoiseach Enda Kenny is due to meet with Lucia and Jim O’Farrell and their four daughters in Government Buildings at 11.30 am tomorrow, Friday, five years on from the death of the Monaghan family’s son.

Shane O’Farrell died on August 2, 2011, aged 23, when he was hit by a car while cycling near his family home in Carrickmacross.
The vehicle was driven by 39-year-old Lithuanian national Zigimantas Gridzuiska, who at the time of the incident had 42 convictions in three countries, including Ireland.

When the incident occurred, Mr Gridzuiska was out on bail over an unrelated matter involving alleged car insurance fraud.

Mr and Mrs O’Farrell have alleged that gardaí failed to ensure Mr Gridzuiska did not continue to drive on Irish roads when their son died.
They settled a lawsuit for nervous shock…
