SENIOR ROLE IN RTÉ NEWS FOR ORAM JOURNALIST

Oram native Declan McBennett has been appointed to a senior management position in RTÉ News. He is taking up the new post of Managing Editor, Live and Continuous news output. In this role he will have responsibility for online news, radio news bulletins, television news summaries, the Centralised News Desk and the use of social media such as twitter.
Declan is married with four children and has worked with RTÉ News for 17 years. He is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, where he completed a History and Politics degree. Declan began his media career with Northern Sound radio in Monaghan in 1996 before moving to FM104 in Dublin where he spent two years.
