GARDA DRUGS UNIT TO BE ESTABLISHED, CHIEF SUPT TELLS JPC

A unit is to be established in the Cavan – Monaghan Garda Division to look at the issue of drug crime.

This news was revealed by new Chief Superintendent of the Division, Christopher Mangan, who was formally introduced at a meeting of the Co Monaghan Joint Policing Committee on Thursday last.

The Chief Superintendent stated that there were not enough services in place to deal with the drugs issue and a lot more could be done to deal with drug addiction.
“I have been involved with the Garda Drugs Unit since its inception in 1996 and 20 years later we are still talking about the same problems,” said Chief Supt Mangan.
