FALLEN TREE BRINGS ROSSMORE ACCESS CONCERNS TO THE FORE

Safety concerns have been raised after a tree that was toppled in Rossmore Forest Park during high winds last weekend blocked the exit leaving many people trapped in the estate for a short time and “narrowly missed” a passer-by.

The incident occurred at approximately 4.30pm on Sunday past, 11th September when a large tree fell right across the entry/exit road meaning that any vehicles already in the park could not leave.

Paudge Connolly, Independent county councillor, told The Northern Standard yesterday that he happened to be at the scene at the time and that a woman walking a dog had just passed by when the tree came down. Mr Connolly telephoned the council for assistance and within twenty minutes, he said, there were two men on the scene with chainsaws to help clear the tree away.
