BREXIT – A BOOST FOR BORDER TOWNS?

Trade leaders in Border towns in the Republic, including counties Monaghan, Louth, and Cavan, are now predicting an upswing of business from the North in the wake of the recent Brexit result.

They claim that there is a likelihood many Northern or UK-based firms are now planning to extend operations to several towns on the southern side of the Border.

The move is designed to enable them to maintain their foothold in the EU for marketing advantage.

Already, it has emerged, some firms have been in contact with auctioneers and estate agents in the Republic to ascertain the availability of premises for leasing, in the wake of a cross-border move …
