FF COUNCILLORS SECURE ROADS MEETING WITH MINISTER ROSS

Cathaoirleach of Monaghan Co Council P J O’Hanlon and his fellow Fianna Fáil councillors Seamus Coyle and Pádraig McNally have secured a meeting this, Thursday morning with Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross TD to discuss the condition of the roads network in Co Monaghan and make a case for additional funding.

Cathaoirleach O’Hanlon told The Northern Standard yesterday that the meeting had emerged from a recent discussion a Co Monaghan FF delegation had held with their party’s roads spokesperson Robert Troy TD.

He described the meeting as a significant breakthrough in local representations on roads funding, an issue he has been to the fore in attempting to advance at Co Council level in recent times.

“Monaghan Co Council has been requesting a meeting with successive Ministers for Transport consistently over the last three years but our requests have always been rebuffed,” Colr O’Hanlon stated.

He expressed the view that today’s meeting had been secured because of the “savage representations” regarding the state of local roads in Co Monaghan that the ….
