CONOR SECURES ANOTHER BLACKWATER 10K WIN
Conor Duffy Glaslough Harriers comfortably saw off formidable challenges from Shercock, Bailieborough and a host of other athletic clubs almost breaking 33 mnutes on a challenging course. Paul Magee from Shercock came second in a very impressive 34mins with his club team mate James Treanor just18 seconds behind.
Anne Linden from a strong Carrick contingent gave another impressive display at just over 40mins to take the ladies section. Donna Mone and Lorraine Mc Loughlin respectively of MTRs secured 2nd and third with 42.47 and 43.30.
The fun run (again on a new course) was won by Andrew Mc Kenna and Emma Glynn both MN Phoenix. Jamie Mc Mahon Clones and Yasmin O’Leary Oriel AC, 2nd and Oisin Fagan phoenix & Amy Jo Kierans Oriel 3rd.
Brilliant displays all round on a day that saw starting points and finishing points in the park for the first time. Having the whole event in the park meant that traffic management was never going to be the same concern. Previously road safety issues were a major concern and the marshalling and stewarding of traffic took up a lot of resources.
Even with a public road closure order in previous years with the required advance notice provided, some users of the Threemilehouse road still found themselves inconvenienced.
