YOUNG GENERATION PERPETUATING MONAGHAN ENTERPRISE SPIRIT

The quality of entry attracted by the Student Enterprise Awards organised by the Monaghan Local Enterprise Office showed that the pioneering business spirit that has long animated job creation in Co Monaghan is in the safe hands of a new and imaginative generation.

Our picture shows the Overall Senior Winner of the awards, Micheál Martin from the Patrician High School in Carrickmacross, with his “Recycle and Grow” concept – a green education tool conceived after a conversation with his younger brother.

Category winners in the event go forward to the national finals in Croke Park in April.

Pressure on space has compelled us to hold over full photographic and editorial coverage of the Monaghan awards event until our next issue.

See pages one and ten for coverage of Monday’s major Enterprise Week event at which the report Bridging The Skills Gap was launched and a new initiative fostered to link local employers and training providers with a view to tailoring skills courses to the future needs of the county’s industrial and business sectors (see also Leader comment on page four).
