MINISTER HUMPHREYS ANNOUNCES €1M FUNDING TO UPGRADE MONAGHAN TOWN LIBRARY

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, local Fine Gael TD, Heather Humphreys, announced on Tuesday last that €1million in funding is to be provided for the upgrade of Monaghan town library.

The funding, which is a major boost for the local library in the county capital, is being provided as part of a €22 million investment by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.

The €1 million Monaghan town allocation brings to almost €2 million the amount for counties Monaghan and Cavan, taking into account an allocation of €850,000, which is to be provided by the Department of Environment for the building of a new library at Main Street in Virginia, Co. Cavan.

Elaborating on the Monaghan town library refurbishment plan, Minister Humphreys said the library was built in 1965, and is currently is not fit for purpose.
