MONAGHAN ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANISATIONS RECEIVE DEPT FUNDING

Two animal welfare organisations in Co Monaghan have benefited from funding announced by the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney on Friday.

Monaghan SPCA, based at Killydonagh, Emyvale, has been granted €28,000.

A €14,000 allocation will go to the Carrickmacross Dog Shelter at Lisdoonan.

In all funding of €2,541,000 was announced by Minister Coveney for a total of 140 organisations working to safeguard the welfare of animals.

Making the announcement at the Irish Blue Cross Clinic in Inchicore in Dublin, the Minister praised the contribution the benefiting organisations made to animal protection, particularly by educating the public on best practice, by making effective interventions where appropriate and providing facilities for at-risk animals.
