The 2015 Streets of Monaghan 5k road race sponsored by Monaghan Credit union took place on Friday night last in excellent running conditions. There was a large turnout for the event which proved to be a great success for the Phoenix club with Belfast’s Paddy Hamilton winning in a fantastic time breaking 15 Minutes. Over 70 Juveniles took part in the 2.5k race and provided some exciting finishes in their respective age groups. The race was started by Phoenix athlete and European medalist Anthony Martin who along with Niamh Malone, who recently represented Ireland at the European youth Olympics received an award during the presentations for their brilliant achievements during the year. Monaghan Phoenix would like to thank Monaghan credit union for their continuing support in helping our club develop young athletes. We would also like to thank everyone who helped out at the event, the Red Cross, An Garda Siochana, All our Stewards, Parents who prepared Food and helped serve refreshments, Monaghan County Council and all our members who helped out in any way.
