The highly anticipated National Community Games Area and Volunteer Awards night took place Saturday last, 6th December, in the Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick. Monaghan were well represented by outstanding volunteers from throughout the county to receive their well-deserved awards. A huge congratulations to our individual volunteer award winners who were recognised on the night for their great continuous support to the organisation in both their area and at county level. Well done to Liam O’Connor who received the Adult Volunteer Award and Emily Busby who was awarded the Youth Volunteer Award. Both Liam and Emily have worked tirelessly this year and for many years to ensure the smooth running of the games in their areas and throughout the county and we are extremely grateful to have them on board. Go raibh míle maith agat!

Tullycorbett area were represented on the night by Marie Durkin and they were awarded the Monaghan Small Area Award. This is a huge achievement for Tullycorbett and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow as an area in the year to come. Congratulations to Marie and all involved.

Bawn Latton, represented by their secretary Therese Hanley, were presented with an award for Monaghan’s Overall Area of the year. However, the celebrations and success continued for the Bawn Latton Area as they also were also awarded Ulster Area of the year. Massive congrats to Therese and all the Bawn Latton committee on this fantastic well deserved achievement.
