WREATH-LAYING WILL MARK 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF MONAGHAN BOMBING

A ceremony will be held at Church Square in Monaghan Town on Sunday afternoon to mark the 40th anniversary of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings.

 Monaghan Town Council Cathaoirleach Paul McGeown and Co Mayor Sean Conlon will lay wreaths at the memorial in the square erected in memory of those who lost their lives in the May 17, 1974 bomb attack in the town.

 The inter-dominational event is part of a weekend of commemoration organised by the Justice for the Forgotten organisation.
