3-YEAR-OLD SON KILLED AND MOTHER SERIOUSLY INJURED

AN horrific Bank Holiday road tragedy near Carrickmacross on Monday evening last claimed the life of a three-years-old boy and left the child’s mother seriously injured.

Little Eoin O’Neill was pronounced dead at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, while his mother Rose (36) from Kilkitt, Shantonagh, Castleblayney, was flown by air ambulance to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin.

The boy’s mother was understood to be driving the car towards Carrickmacross when the collision involving another car occurred on a “death stretch” of the N2 Dublin/Derry Road at Annamarron, between Carrickmacross and Ardee.

News of the tragic accident shocked the mid and south Monaghan community on Monday evening.
