NEW LEO STRUCTURE WILL BOOST JOB CREATION POTENTIAL OF MONAGHAN SMALL ENTERPRISE – COUNTY MANAGER

A positive endorsement of the new Local Enterprise Office (LEO) structure that has come into being in Co Monaghan as a successor body to the former Co Enterprise Board was delivered to Tuesday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council by Co Manager Eugene Cummins.

Mr Cummins said the expertise available through the new structure offered great opportunities for small businesses in the county in particular to avail of.

Whether the body would assist local enterprises in accessing funding for the replacement of equipment or the taking on of additional staff were issues raised by Independent councillor Paudge Connolly, while Sinn Féin’s Brian McKenna cautioned against “overselling” the new structure given that the problem facing many businesses at the present time was access to capital.

The Manager told the meeting that the new Local Enterprise Office in the county had officially come into being on Tuesday of last week. He felt this was an important event for the Co Council as in the months going forward economic and social development would be the order of the day.
