COUNTY COUNCIL MAKES EMERGENCY ROADS MONEY APPEAL TO MINISTER HOGAN
The serious state of deterioration of a section of the road structure of Co Monaghan prompted support at Monday’s meeting of Monaghan Co Council for a Fianna Fáil urgent business motion asking Environment Minister Phil Hogan to make an immediate funding allocation to the authority to tackle the problem.
The motion highlighted the large number of roads in the county that were “currently impassable” and would see no repairs carried out on them this year, and requested Minister Hogan to immediately allocate funding to the Council to allow them carry out proper resurfacing.
Motion mover Pádraig McNally said that anyone canvassing in rural areas for the forthcoming local government elections on May 23 was “in for a bit of rude awakening”.
